Press: Images & Details, Inc. Long before the concept of “green living” exploded into global consciousness Chicago-based Twill Textiles made a firm commitment to protecting both the individual and the planet. From its inception four years ago, Twill has gone green and luxurious with the Climatex® Lifecycle™ Home Collection: beautiful, sustainable fabrics for the residential market, produced in a highly eco-sensitive manner. Suzanne Lovell, principal of interior architectural firm Suzanne Lovell, Inc. and Twill co-founder with renowned handweaver Sam Kasten, sheds light on the importance of sustainable design, and how the company achieves it. A. Protecting and sustaining the environment has
always been of major importance to me. Nature figures
strongly in the aesthetics of our collections as well – it’s often
our design inspiration and central to our signature,
earthy color palette. Therefore, it was a natural
progression to develop a unique collection that reflects
the high regard we have for the environment. Q. What aspects of the Climatex® Lifecycle™ Home
Collection are sustainable/eco-friendly? Is it solely
the production method or does it include fabric components
as well? A. The entire manufacturing process is eco-sensitive – from
start to finish and beyond - even to the extent of
recycling all fabric scraps and by-products of production!
This process is a revolutionary method that was
developed in Europe and meets the most stringent
criteria. The fibers used are pesticide-residue-free
wool and organically grown ramie; not only safe for the
environment but durable, breathable and comfortable.
The dyes are non-toxic; the dying and weaving processes – and all
by-products - are certified safe for human and
ecological systems. |
